MSI Council
NOAA established the Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) Council in 1999 to increase interaction and collaborative research with Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs).
The MSI Council chair, who is designated by the NOAA Administrator, coordinates the activities of NOAA Line and Staff Offices to support current and future interactions with the MSI s community . The Council also makes recommendations for improvement in funding to MSIs for faculty/staff exchanges, to increase partnerships and collaborative research opportunities between NOAA and the MSI community .
The MSI Council meets quarterly.
